What are the FatWallet Forums?
FatWallet Forums are a dynamic display of valuable shopping information. You will see unbiased presentation and review of the hottest deals in a bulletin board format. Each of nearly 20 forum categories (Hot Deals, Free Stuff, Travel, etc.) has its own “board.” Then on each board are posted countless related topics. Finally, under each topic are lists of related questions and suggestions to round out your shopping information.
How do I subscribe to a topic, and then what happens?
Subscribe by clicking on that option at the top or bottom of the “Author” column when you are viewing a topic. You will also be given the option to subscribe any time you respond to a topic. Once subscribed, you will receive an email from us letting you know each time a response is made to that topic.
What if I want to un-subscribe to a topic? Where can I review the topics I have subscribed to?
From FatWallet's home page, click on “Forums,” then “today” in the Forum Toolbar. On your “today” page, you will see which topics you subscribed to, and choose which ones to discontinue. Or, if you are currently logged in, you can
review subscriptions now.
What is the FatWallet Daily Email (FWDE)?
This is a compilation of offers sent out each night to be available for reading over your morning coffee. Since sane people may not be able to monitor all the great deals posted throughout the day, this gives you an opportunity to review the previous days' excitement. The “FWDE” includes all the offers and coupons that were added that day by our professional Deal Guides. It also includes all offers and coupons in the FatWallet database that will be expiring in the next few days. (Consider this a last call notice.) Most importantly, it includes all the Hot Deals posted by your fellow members of the FatWallet Community.

Sign-up is easy. Just add your email address to our mailing list after clicking here:
Subscribe to FatWallet Daily Email. After sign-up, a confirmation email will be sent to you. You must respond to this confirmation to start receiving the FWDE. Your privacy is very important to us, and we will never sell or rent your email address to anyone. Of course, if you feel you have more important things to do over your morning coffee, an unsubscribe option is available at the bottom of each and every “FWDE” issue. Enjoy!

    Cash Back F.A.Q.
    What is FatWallet Cash Back?
It's money in your pocket, that’s what! FatWallet Cash Back is money you earn in the form of an automatic rebate. It is separate from and in addition to any other discounts!
How do I get FatWallet Cash Back?
Earn FatWallet Cash Back by making qualifying online purchases from participating stores in the Cash Back & Coupons section of our site. Here's how:
Shopping on one of our Cash Back & Coupons pages, you'll see coupons, other specials and the store’s cash back offer. If a cash back rate is not listed, the merchant does not participate in the Cash Back program but may still provide special offers.

When you're ready, choose one of the special offers listed, or simply click on the link in "Cash Back!" section.

That's it! You've taken the first step to earning Cash Back.

Details and Restrictions: Some stores have additional requirements to earn Cash Back and are identified with a red asterisk (*) in the store list. Details are listed on each store’s Cash Back & Coupons page and in a pop-up box when you visit a store through a FatWallet Cash Back link. Check them closely because if we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
What is required at checkout to earn FatWallet Cash Back?
Just log into FatWallet first, visit a participating merchant from our
Cash Back & Coupons" page, add items to your cart, and check out. There's no special code or password needed for Cash Back.

The key is shopping without getting distracted!

Interrupting the shopping session by closing the window, performing searches on other sites, clicking pop-ups, visiting your social networking home page, and other side-treks are examples of things to avoid. Just stay focused! Easy enough, right? :)

You'll want to be sure to complete the purchase soon after linking from FatWallet. Merchants have limits on how long they'll remember your visit from FatWallet--waiting hours to make your purchase is not a good idea. Waiting days or weeks between link and purchase is a bad idea--such a bad idea that we can't even offer support for it!

Special note on multiple purchases: If want to make another purchase, you must first return to FatWallet and visit through our Cash Back & Coupons page, just like the first time. Completing each transaction ends your “Cash Back session” with FatWallet and you have to start over to qualify on additional purchases.

Don’t panic because you can’t see Cash Back reflected at checkout. It’s a rebate, so you'll have to wait a little while.

Does following these guidelines guarantee Cash Back?
Almost. Cash Back is accurately reported over 97% of the time.

Still, there are things outside of our control. For example:
    • Your computer software set-up
    • Actions you take while shopping (not following our guidelines!)
    • The occasional electronic 'glitch'
    • Dingo pack attacks
Any of these can impact success of cash back shopping, although the latter two are (thankfully) very rare.

It’s still a good idea to keep your e-mail confirmation from the merchant, however! You can take that confirmation and submit it to us in a Support Request if your transaction is not reported in your account within three weeks of the shipping date.

We'll help if we can but the bottom line is this:
If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
How long will I have to wait for money to show in my Cash Back account?
While most merchants report in just a few days, others may take up to 3 weeks from the SHIPPING date. Nothing will show in your account until the merchant reports to us, so please do not worry (or send a support request) until 3 weeks after your ENTIRE order has been shipped. If you still don't see anything, then please send us complete order information on a
    Support Request.
We'll help if we can but the bottom line is this:
If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
How long will I have to wait for my Cash Back to be available?
Depending on the merchant, 91 - 121 days. Why? Because merchants typically have 90 days to reverse a transaction for return purposes. Your account will show "Pending" during this time. Some merchants take longer than others to pay us, and we can't pay you until they pay us! When the waiting is over, you will see the amount in your "Available Balance." You can then request payment.
How long will it take to pay me once I have requested payment?
Cash Back payments are typically processed weekly.

Does this mean I'll get my payment within a week of requesting it?
Not necessarily. There are variables outside our processing that can cause delays. Depending on when your request is received, it may be a couple weeks for PayPal funds to be released or a check mailed. We do all we can to get your Cash Back to you as soon as possible.
My account? What account? Where's my account and what does it contain?
We set up an 'account' for all Cash Back you earn shopping through FatWallet. Once the merchant OK's commissions to us, we put your share in your Cash Back account. You can view your Balance & History, request a payment, and other userful information by clicking
My Account in the top right corner of any FatWallet page.

    Balance & History
On the Balance & History page, you will see a basic summary of your Cash Back account.
    • Pending = transaction was reported, but you need to wait the 90-120 days until you can cash out.
    • Available = this is the amount you can cash out at any time.
    • Investigating = transactions that did not report automatically, you informed us, and we are checking with the merchant to see if they will pay commission on the transaction
    • Appealed = for some reason, the merchant denied payment, and we are appealing that decision with them for you
    • Cash Out Requested = the amount you have requested to have paid to you, but that has not yet been sent
    • Cash Out Processed = the total amount of Cash Back withdrawls you have made
    • Lifetime Cash Back = this is a running total of all Cash Back you have earned
    Cash Back Transaction history
You will also see your Cash Back Transaction history, sorted by Year/Month. These are all of your Cash Back eligible transactions, even those that are still in the Pending phase. You will see any notes you left for yourself, as well as the Order ID, purchase amount, Cash Back amount, and more. Other terms you may see with your Transaction history can include:
    • Reported = merchant reported your transaction in this amount
    • Approved = yes: the transaction has been investigated and merchant will pay commission. Only applies when you see "manual entry"
    • Declined = no: the transaction has been investigated and merchant will not pay commission. Only applies when you see "manual entry"
    We're on the same side!
When we get paid, you get paid. When we don't, you don't. We want your Cash Back to be reported and approved as much as you do. Please let us know with a Support Request if you see problems, incorrect amounts, or missing transactions within three weeks after the last of your merchandise has shipped. We'll help if we can but the bottom line is this: If we do not get paid by the merchant, we cannot pay you.
What is the difference between FatWallet Cash Back and a Discount?
Cash Back is a rebate and will not show at checkout. Discounts may also be available by entering a code at checkout, and these savings will show right away. If FatWallet has an additional discount code, we will advise you of that when you connect to the merchant. Otherwise, check out as normal.
Why is FatWallet paying Cash Back?
Sharing is good, right? We are sharing a portion of what we earn, so you are happy here and come back again! When you visit our Cash Back & Coupons page and go shopping from there, merchants pay us a commission for sending them a customer. It’s a win-win-win situation. They sell more, we keep the site going, and you get Cash Back!
Is this safe? Will I get junk email or be put on a list?
    Yes, safe.
    No junk mail.
    No lists.
We are here for you and because of you. FatWallet is successful because of our smart, respectful users, and we are NOT going to abuse, offend, or otherwise take advantage of you!
Where can I earn FatWallet Cash Back?
You earn cash back from participating merchants on our Cash Back & Coupons page. Cash Back offers ( $ or % ) are seen next to participating merchants.

Click merchant name to see all offers.
Click offer ( $ or % ) to link directly to merchant site.
Click red asterisk (if present) to review merchant requirements and restrictions. Check 'em close because: If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
Can I visit again later and still get FatWallet Cash Back?
Yes, of course you can. However, please remember the following:
To earn Cash Back, the following events must occur in order:
    1. Log in to FatWallet with your username.
    2. Go to our Cash Back & Coupons page.
    3. Link to a participating merchant from FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons/Offers page.
    4. Add items to your cart.
    5. Complete your transaction.

The following will PREVENT Cash Back:
    1. Not logging into FatWallet.
    2. Going directly to the merchant (including from a forum discussion) rather than linking from our Cash Back & Coupons page.
    3. Completing multiple transactions without returning to our Cash Back & Coupons page. (Completing each transaction ends your “Cash Back session” with FatWallet and you have to start over to earn Cash Back on additional items.)
    4. Typing in a new address (URL) in the window opened by FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons or Offers page.
    5. Clicking on any "special offers" or toolbars from other sites while shopping.
    6. Allowing too much time to elapse between link and completed purchase. Merchants are limited in the time they'll remember us, and waiting hours, days or weeks is a bad idea.

NOTE: Many merchants require you to add items to your cart after linking from our Cash Back & Coupons or Offers page. That means if you visit again later, it is the safest bet to remove any old items in your cart and re-add them after linking from FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons/Offers.

If in doubt, return to FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons page and navigate to the merchant from there. You’ll see a pop-up window proclaiming “You’re on track for getting Cash Back!”

If you have questions about specific merchants or Cash Back procedures, please let us know on a
Support Request. Our team will be happy to help you! We want you to earn Cash Back because that means we're earning a commission. Just remember:
If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
Can I buy directly from the merchant and still get FatWallet Cash Back? What about price-matches?
No. If you deal with the merchant in-person, on-phone, or without FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons link on-line, then you will not receive Cash Back. As a matter of fact, calling the merchant to change an order can cancel your Cash Back. Finally, if you request a price-match, the retailer will essentially cancel your FatWallet order and place a new one. In these cases, you will not earn Cash Back.
We'll help if we can but the bottom line is this:
If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
What if I need to contact the merchant or change my order?
Contacting the merchant may void your cash back! Even if no actual changes are made (such as calling to check the status), the merchant may see themselves as the last assistance on the order and FatWallet may no longer be credited.

When making a change to an order, merchants regularly cancel the online order through FatWallet and enter a new one that is not associated to your FatWallet click. Without the FatWallet connection on this new order, no cash back is earned. This applies to changes made in-store as well. Adding extended warranty, changing payment method, or even adding another item to your order is a change. ANY change to your order can void Cash Back.

It is best to cancel your order (which you can do directly) and then re-enter FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons, find the merchant you want to order from and click on the merchant's name. Then (re-)order. Remember: If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.

Do all purchases qualify for FatWallet Cash Back?
Sometimes restrictions are imposed by merchants. If we have been properly advised, a red asterisk is placed next to the merchant's cash back offer. Details and restrictions can be seen by clicking that asterisk or clicking the merchant name and viewing their Cash Back & Coupons page.

    Coupons/discounts from sources outside our
Cash Back & Coupons pages may void FatWallet Cash Back rebates. Please see Coupons & discounts information for more details.

Taxes, shipping and fees are not cash back eligible. This includes fees for special delivery, haul away, car rental fees beyond the rental price of the vehicle, and airline fees other than the ticket price itself. Rest assured any part of your order we earn commission on will earn you cash back. If an element doesn't earn commission for any reason, then that won't show in your cash back account either.

REMEMBER: When we get paid, then you get paid. When we don't, you don't. This means we're on the same side! We want your cash back to be reported and approved as much as you do. Please let us know on a Support Request any time a qualifying transaction is not reported in your account within three weeks of the shipping date, or Ask Us questions ahead of time. We're here for you! We want us both to get paid but the bottom line is this:
If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
How do I actually get the cash? What is PayPal?
Just go to My Account on top right corner of any page, then click on Request A Payment and follow the prompts. You can quickly set up an account at PayPal and request payment electronically or, if you have Cash Back totaling more than $10, you can request payment by standard check.
    Learn more about PayPal.
    What is the Tracking Number?
The tracking number is included in the “You’re on track for getting Cash Back” window you see after proceeding to a merchant through our Cash Back Mall. It is unique to you and the FatWallet-to-merchant connection you just completed, and is provided to give you peace of mind that you are following procedures to earn cash back. Since the tracking number confirms the connection, and not necessarily a qualifying purchase, it does not alone indicate you are due cash back.

NOTE: We encourage you to "Leave yourself a note about this transaction" (available in the tracking window) and record the order number assigned by the merchant. Because of privacy issues, we do not always have access to this number, and it can be helpful if you need us to investigate a transaction. It's also a good idea to keep confirmation emails sent by the merchant.
What does it mean to leave myself a note?
The “You’re on track for getting Cash Back” window offers you an option to “Leave yourself a note about this transaction.” If you click on that, it provides a space for you to jot down any details you’d like. The note will then be attached to your tracking number and seen in your Balance and History. You can access this through
My Account in the top right corner of any FatWallet page.
Why isn’t this working? (I’m following all the directions!)
OK. Sometimes the problem is at our end... But not usually.
  • First of all, you must be a registered FatWallet user. If you are not, you may sign up now.
  • Secondly, you must log on with your user name. Remember, FatWallet is a FREE, No Obligation site. We just need you registered and logged in so we can keep track of what is owed to you!
  • Finally, there are many issues related to your computer set-up and shopping actions that can influence the success of FatWallet Cash Back. Click here for Cash Back Solutions! You'll find discussion of HOSTS files, pop-up blockers, spyware tools, firewalls, cookies and other problems.
We WANT this to work for you but the bottom line is this:
If we do not get paid by the merchant for any reason, we do not pay you.
  • Details?! Why should I care about Details?
Some stores have special requirements to earn cash back. Click the red asterisk next to any store's offer and read their requirements and restrictions. They are also spelled out on the Offers page found by clicking the merchant name. Look closely because if we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
What if I see a problem when reviewing my account?
    Please remember the timeline:
  • Up to 3 weeks from the SHIPPING date for money to show in your FatWallet Cash Back account. Your account will show nothing during this time.
  • 91 – 121 days, depending on the merchant, for Money to be available. Why 91 - 121 days? Because merchants typically have 90 days to reverse a transaction for return purposes. Your account will show "Pending" during this time. When the waiting is over, you will see the amount in your "Available Balance." You can then request payment.
  • Cash Back payments are typically processed weekly.

If there’s still a problem then please send a Support Ticket with complete order information. Refer to your original date/time-stamped email confirmation from the merchant. Cash back is based on the purchase amount after discounts and before tax and shipping. For us to investigate with the merchant, your support request must be received within 60 days of the purchase. Support Tickets received after that time may not be addressed. We'll help if we can but the bottom line is this:
If we do not get paid by the merchant, we do not pay you.
  • What if I still have questions?
    Contact us with a
Support Ticket. The more information you provide, the more we’ll be able to help! Your questions and comments are always welcome!
Why isn't Cash Back offered for all merchants?
For the most part, we make Cash Back available whenever it's valuable to our Community. Not offering cash back is most often due to a merchant's policy not to participate in such incentive programs, or their reporting procedures are not sufficient for the needs of our program.
Can I use coupons or other discounts and still earn Cash Back?
Many merchants allow coupon or discount codes to be entered at checkout, or offer extra savings through a special link. Frequently, these can provide outstanding savings. However, coupons/deals from sources outside the FatWallet Cash Back & Coupons pages may void your Cash Back rebate. This can include offers you receive via email or snail mail, those on TV & radio, Employee Purchase programs, and sometimes even the deals posted by users in our Forums.

There are several coupons and offers that are designed to work with Cash Back to provide you with the greatest savings. You can find these in our
Cash Back & Coupons area on each store's page. These discounts are separate from your FatWallet Cash Back rebate.

Carefully consider all options, including our own offers and Cash Back, and determine what works best for you. Just remember: if the merchant chooses not to pay us commission for your order, then we can not pay you Cash Back.
What is a Cash Back Sale?
A Cash Back Sale is a limited-time only increase in the amount of Cash Back offered for a given merchant. They can happen at any time, so keep your eyes open for the extra rebate amounts!

A merchant participating in a Cash Back Sale will have the sale icon next to it's Cash Back amount and name on the main
Cash Back & Coupons page, as well as listed under it's "cash back!" box on it's individual page. At any time, you can view a listing of all merchants participating in a Cash Back Sale by visiting the Cash Back Sale page.

Most sales will include an end date. Although it happens rarely, merchants do reserve the right to end a Cash Back sale early.

    $5 Sign Up Bonus F.A.Q.
How do I sign up for the $5.00 Bonus Bucks promotion I keep hearing about?
The $5.00 Bonus Bucks promotion ended on June 4, 2007. Any accounts registered on or after this date are not eligible for the bonus.

Update: Users who registered by July 4th were included in this promotion.
Why do my transactions need to be “reported directly” by the merchant?
More than 97% of our users’ transactions are reported directly by the merchant. When they’re not, it is typically a matter of shopping habits or the customer's computer configuration. While we are usually willing to credit your account manually in the event of a missed transaction, and often able to recover your rebate, manual entries do take time and resources. Please consider this your incentive to read our
Cash Back FAQ and the Cash Back Solutions thread, then make recommended changes to optimize your cash back shopping.
    Why did my bonus disappear?
August 31, 2007 was the last day to make purchases which counted in the Bonus Bucks promotion.

If you did not earn $5.00 in qualifying Cash Back purchases between November 2005 and August 31, 2007, you did not qualify for the bonus. The pending $5.00 bonus and progress banner was removed.

Bonuses unclaimed by December 31, 2008 will be forfeited. You'll need to have at least $10.00 in available Cash Back in your account to request the bonus.
Why do I have to take payment by check? I’ve always taken my payments via PayPal….
Sending payments by check helps us enforce the one-bonus-per-household rule.
My roommate and I are both FatWallet members… why can’t we both earn the Bonus?
Roommates not both earning the bonus is a side-effect of rules preventing multiple bonuses to one person. Besides being simple to administer, “per household” also means we don’t have to ask for additional personal information. It is a known trade-off, and we offer our apologies to roommates and innocent bystanders excluded by this restriction.
My account indicates the Bonus is Pending, but the $5 doesn’t seem to be part of my Pending Balance.
First of all, our apologies for the confusion. Really, it’s not intentional! Until you’ve accumulated the necessary $5 in Cash Back, your Bonus is Pending and isn’t included in any of your Account Balances.

After 91 to 121 days from your transaction, when your qualifying $5 Cash Back becomes Available, your bonus is Earned. At that time, the Bonus status will show as Earned and the $5 will be included in your Available Balance.

Purchases made after August 31, 2007 will not count toward your Bonus Bucks!

Payment requests which included Bonus Bucks must be made prior to December 31, 2008! Since Bonus Bucks are only paid by check, this means you'll need to have at least $10.00 in available Cash Back at the time of your request. Any unclaimed Bonus Bucks will be forfeited.
My account shows the Bonus has been Earned, but where is it?
Once the Bonus is earned, it will be a part of your Available Balance until you take payment via check. If you’re uncertain as to whether or not you’ve collected, just send us a
    Support Ticket.
