A poster on another thread stated that despite being a GR customer, he was being charged .25cts a minute for calls when he had purchased the $100 = 1,000 minutes deal, he stated that he had been a GR customer for over three years and had purchased the $100/1,000 minute deal each and every year before expiration. He also stated that he was credited with 1,000 plus 65 bonus minutes when he applied a $100 Tmobile To Go card. He suggested that all Tmobile customers check the per minute charge.
I checked, and I'm being charged .15cts per minute and I also have purchased $100/1,000 minutes for each and every year. The GR deal clearly states 10 cts per minute. not 15cts or 25cts.
Every purchase of 1,000 minutes at $100 has clearly shown up on my phone account, therefore $100 = .10 cts per minute.
HOWEVER, I check with a one minute call and I'm not charged .10cts but .15cts per minute (cash balance).
Now, Iam going nutz. Has anyone else checked the cost per call, or do we just accept that when we get 1,000 minutes for $100 card plus some bonus minutes, that we are paying 10cts????
Appreciate any input, it seems that the cash balance has nothing to do with minutes...but...HUH?

charlesarina,
You should go to:
tzones/myaccount
and record the balance minutes and dollar amount.
calculate:
dollar amount/minutes
that is your cost per minute.
mine works out to be 13 cents/minute
because I have purchased $100 and $25 cards in the past.

What is GR customer?

I think GR=Gold Rewards.

Yeah, GR = Gold Rewards.
Gordon, I've done that and its 15cts/minute, however I have always purchased $100 = 1,000 minutes plus bonus minutes.
So the question remains..HUH?
Admitedly, I always checked the addition of minutes, but disregarded the cash balance...as in, I got the minutes, so who cares about the cash balance.
I have to figure that, if I got the minutes as purchased, then who cares what per minute charge they use.
But it is really confusing and I always felt that "confusing" holds an ulterior motive.

charlesarina,
When you first got the phone, they give you something like $30 (and 50 minutes).
That would change the cents/minute value if you did not run that amount down before
adding $100. Also have you been receiving text messages?
I sometimes get spam text messages.
You can check your account, send yourself a text message, and check account to
see how it was charged. I think it only adjusts the $ amount, not the minutes, not sure.
By the way, I keep them honest by recording the $ amount in my account on the phone.
This is how I do it:
add a new phone number
the name of the new phone number is: Z48.64
I put the Z so it is at the bottom of my list.
The number corresponds to the $ amount in my account
Then occasionally, I check my account using tzones and compare with my Z48.64 value.
When my tzones value has changed, and I understand why, then I change the name of Z46.64
to maybe Z48.59 or whatever the new $ amount is.
I developed this process after I discovered that they had charged me incorrectly for several
ringtones. Maybe something like that has happened to you?

Your per minute rate is always current $ / current minutes. This rate will change whenever you have non-voice events or you add airtime.

1. Check your $ / minutes to get your current per minute rate.
2. Make a call.
3. Check if $ was decreased according to the per minute rate.

Thanks, all great points. I guess $100 = 1,000 (+bonus 105) minutes...is, well NOT 15cts/min.
Screwy to say the least!

Did an experiment: Added a $25 card to the GR account. The minutes added were 156 and the cash account went up $25, but a 1 min test call deducted 1 minute and 15ct. Makes noooooooooooooo sense. At 15cts/min the $25 cash bal will be depleted before the 156 minutes are used.
No wonder they lost the war!
Text messaging is 10cts to send and free to receive, T-zones are free.

charlesarina,
I think I need to take advice from you.
When I go to the tmobile togo web site:
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/Cell-Phone-Plans.aspx?catgrou...

They sell the $100 card with 1000 minutes
$25 card with 150 minutes (130 minutes + 15% for GR)
You say: $100 card 1065 minutes ??
$25 card 156 minutes ??

Here is how to calculate the new cents/minute when you add a refill card.
Lets say your current $ amount is $50, and minutes are 333 (15cents/min)
And you add a $25 card with 150 minutes.
Your new $ amount is $75, and your new minutes are 483 (16cents/min)
If you now make a one minute call it deducts 16 cents.
It does NOT deduct the $25/150 minutes first.
I wish tmobile had explained this at their web site.

Where are you getting your refill cards?
I need to get my yearly refill card.

Buy them on eBay for about $85-$95 each for the 1,000 minute card. actually, now that I think of it, you could also use the MS Live CashBack link and really cut down the cost...

gordon, swear...I got 156 mins w/$25 today and 1,065 with a $100 refill last march. This account is four years old and was orig purchased via HSN, There may have been a special deal (HSN) that still works...BUT WHO THE HELL can figure this out?
Still free ring tones, T-zones, incoming text and free outgoing text via the website-to-phone page.
I have a headache!

Edit: I lied, it is 5cts to receive text...didn't know that they changed that service.

Nomoney: 1,143/$171.51 = 15cts/min...how does that help?

charlesarina,

> 1,143/$171.51 = 15cts/min

Lets assume that you had paid 10 cents/min.
Then 1,143 mins x 10 cents/min = $114.30
171.51 - 114.30 = $57.21

So, one explanation is that a charge was made to your account
that deducted $57.21, but did not change the minutes balance.
I think that ringtones might meet that requirement.
Maybe 12 or so ringtones?
Like I said, I was incorrectly charged for ringtones.
They credited my account when I explained that my phone cannot download ringtones!!
I think you should call them and see if they can scan your account for
unusual charges on the order of $57 to $60.

Gordon, Thanks, I think that is a possibility and we'll see if they can do a scan.
Although the minutes appear correct and since I'm using the minutes (That cost +- 10cts) do I really care about the cash balance or their insane methodology???
I don't know? As I get older, it seems anything purposely complicated is some sort of scam.

One other thing, Mrs Charles pointed out that 2-3 years ago her cash balance was over $300 when she had purchased (To date) only $200 and had used 100's minutes. Odd, you order minutes, check your minute balance for accuracy and move on, then it gets screwed up!
Thanks gordon.

I think there's some confusion here. The $100 / 1000 minutes / 10cpm rate ONLY applies if you do nothing but make / receive voice calls for the entire $100 / 1000 minutes. Your per minute rate for the next call is always current $ / current minutes. Based on your current numbers, it would be 15cpm, which you have verified is being deducted accordingly. The cpm rate should remain the same if you only make / receive voice calls.

However, if you buy ringtones, games, send/receive texts, etc., the current $ / current minutes will change and you most likely have a new cts / min rate for future calls. I don't know how they deduct T-Zone purchases or text messages, but I'm sure it screws with the $ / minute ratio.

I have had my TMO account for close to 3 years and have only used it for voice calls and have always added airtime that gives the 10cpm rate ($100 or $50 w/ GR). To this day, my $ / min ratio has always been $1 / 10 minutes before and after eeach and every call.

My guess is that you've made purchases from T-Zones and/or sent/received text messages and this drove up your CPM rate.
